**Upbeat Music** Welcome to Hyperfixing with Cate. I’m your host, Cate North. Join me today as we dive into yet another amazing hyperfixation. **Upbeat Music**
Hi and welcome to Hyperfixing with Cate, I’m your host Cate North. I would like to welcome you to this podcast, introduce myself and give you an idea of what to expect. So… let us pull up a chair as I proudly present my podcast.
First, a little trivia for you. True or false, some turtles breathe out of their butts.
Any whosel, let me introduce our first guest…she launched her first podcast on her 40th birthday. She has an insatiable thirst for learning about new, different and fascinating things. She is a woman with many different hats, please welcome to the show Cate North. Wait, what? That that’s me… oh my gosh, you guys!!! I’m honored, your first guest. Ok, so by this point youve probably figured out that I think I’m hilarious, but most people probably won’t agree.
So, a little more about myself. I’m an enneagram 9, a leo, my core values are family, creativity, knowledge and learning. I genuinely believe the saying everyone you will meet knows something you don’t. I love learning about…just about everything. But i have a short attention span and a not so great memory recall. During the pandemic I kind of forgot how to people and discovered Tiktok. Which lead me to self diagnose myself as someone who should definitely seek a professional opinion. As I resonate with a lot of those nuerospicy tiktoks. Still haven’t done it though because I HATE the phone. Although, as my friend says, why would you self diagnose yourself with something that you genuinely believe. We self diagnose colds all the time, because we know the symptoms. So is self diagnosis valid?
Another fun fact about me, I love official definitions and synonyms. As such you will probably experience these. For example, according to urban dictionary, hyperfixation is quote: basically being obsessed or completely emerged in one subject or hobby. End quote. One of my current hyperfixations as you might guess is starting a podcast. But I had no idea what to do a podcast about. The thing about me is that I have the belief that if I know something, it’s not special, ,everybody knows it. Contradictory to the saying I also mentioned that I believe everyone knows something you don’t. So teaching people something new isn’t really going to work because everybody knows what I know. So I decided my podcast had to be about other people. And I also thought, maybee other people are like me too. They have these fixations, special interests, obsessions, and with a hint of the synonym search, fascinations, infatuations, preoccupations, attractions, and all the other “tions” out there.
During this podcast, it is my goal to build a community of people who also enjoy learning, improving themselves and maybe even the world around them. It is my intention to interview everyday heroes, up and coming individuals and industry experts. I will interview them on their special interests and/or areas of expertise. Hopefully you have made it this far and have an idea of what to expect.
Also, in the beginning I asked a true or false question. The answer is true. Although those that be…think it is much more fun to call it cloacal breathing, instead of butt breathing. According to reptile handbook.com, quote: cloacal breathing is where oxygen is diffused into turtles lungs and then carbon dioxide comes out . The cloaca works as the urinary, intestinal and genital tract. Which then has openings called bursa.
Thank you for joining me as I introduced you to the chaos that is me, Cate North. It feels good to have that out of the way. Now you might have a small inkling of what to expect in future episodes. And I cant wait to see you there.
